Off to Camp Brainstorm 2013!

This morning the kids were off to attend this year’s Camp Brainstorm. Thanks to you, so were 75+ handmade, purple plushies to keep the campers, counselors and staff company on the TX beach. I can’t tell you how touched I am by the volunteer response. We got so many wonderful gifts that PSP can now get back 0n track with sending knit & crocheted stuffed toys to kids all over the country.

Thank you!

2nd Annual Purple Plushie Drive for Camp Brainstorm!

It’s time again to start prepping, purple pals for the kids at Camp Brainstorm! Last year, thanks to YOUR hard work, and generosity we were able to supply every single camper, volunteer and EFCST staff member with a handmade, purple ninja. At various epilepsy events, I still get parents coming up to me saying, how much Purple Stitch Project’s gift meant to their child. Warms my heart!

Well folks, I’d like to call you to crafty-action again. To have a plushie waiting on each camper’s bunk when they arrive, we’ll need lots of stitching help. Can we count on you? Here are the details:

WHAT: Knit, crochet or sew ANY plushie (animal, toy, object). You can use a pattern of your own, one that you’ve purchased, or any of our free patterns housed on Craftsy. The only stipulation is that the plushie have at least some purple in it (doesn’t matter which shade.)

NOTE: Since many of the campers will be returning , we ask that you NOT make the same ninjas as last year for this event. We will however, happily place any ninjas received in the bin to go out to non-camper kids with seizure disorders.

WHEN: Camp plushies due to Purple Stitch Project HQ, by no later than June 1, 2013.

WHERE: Plushies should be mailed to:

Purple Stitch Project
9901 Brodie Ln.
Ste. 160, Box 268
Austin, TX 78748

Need inspiration? Look at just a few of the faces of last year’s PSP recipients. Like the turtle in the image on this page? Get the free pattern for it on Little Muggles.com!

For information on this year’s camp, go to: http://epilepsycamp.com

As always, thank you for all that you do!

xx,
Vickie

P.S. As the warmer weather comes upon us, we can’t use beanies, scarves and other garments for gifts (we’ll save ‘em for Fall) — so, we’re in dire need of more plushies — ninjas, animals, objects — to go out to hospitals and individuals ranging in age from 0-21. Pass it on!

Corks for Camp Event

Last year so many of you donated handmade ninjas for the kids at Camp Brainstorm. Well, now it’s time to raise money so the kids can go to camp again! Join me for some wine, raffles and feel-good fundraising at the Epilepsy Foundation of Central & South Texas Corks for Kids event.

Hope to see you there!

PSP Wins Awesome Crochet Blogger Award!

Happy New Year, everyone! I’m happy to report that Purple Stitch Project won the 2012 Awesome Crochet Blog Award for Best New Charity! Please take a minute to read more about it here.

PSP on the Cover of Crafts n’ Things Magazine!

The amount of support Purple Stitch Project continues to receive from the craft community never ceases to amaze me. I’m beyond thrilled to announce that not only did my purple and orange cowl design and an article featuring our cause make the holiday issue of Crafts n’ Things Magazine, but the editor, Annie put us on the cover!

This kind of exposure is great our little charity project (not to mention what a boost seeing his face front-and-center, gave to my son!)

Grab a copy of Crafts n’ Things from the newsstand today to show them how much we appreciate them giving epilepsy awareness some attention.

With Love and Health,
Vickie

Purple Stitch Project Mention on Paper Mate Video!

The folks at Paper Mate recently asked me what I was most looking forward to working on with their InkJoy pens now that school’s back in session. Much to my delight, they have the perfect color for tagging PSP items with.  Check out my video response and stop by their Facebook page to thank them for letting me use this forum to spread the word about Epilepsy awareness.

Meet one of the recipients of your generosity — just a glimpse at a face of pediatric epilepsy.

This is Nickolas. He’s not quite two years old yet, but already a fighter. He’s got a Purple Stitch Project plushie by his side, for whatever the future may hold.
