Message from Camp Brainstorm!

Camp Brainstorm was a huge success made even brighter by your generosity. Each camper and counselor was greeted with a purple ninja on their bed upon arrival. EFCST Director, Sindi Rosales e-mailed me yesterday to tell me that the kids said they were, “strong like ninjas.” That my friends, is good stuff!

Just a few of the campers, having fun in their cabin.

Thanks again for your hard work and kindness. Please keep donations coming as there are kids in and out of the monitoring center and hospital every week that could use a little gift to make them smile.

With peace and admiration,

Camp Bound!

My son, Tristan and all of the purple ninjas going to the kids of Camp Brainstorm.

Well folks, we did it. The very first Purple Stitch Project charity drive was a big success. Thanks to the generosity of 35+ volunteers, we received so many plushies that we’re able to send ninjas to Camp Brainstorm for every camper *and* every volunteer! Members of the Epilepsy Foundation of Central & South Texas are picking them up tomorrow and will have them waiting on the kids’ beds when they arrive next week at camp. They’ve promised to snap a picture, which I’ll be sure to share as soon as I get it! All of the amazing non-ninja plushies will be distributed to children across the nation whose parents have made requests through our Receive form, and to local epilepsy facilities.

Please continue making gifts for Purple Stitch Project — with the Fall/Winter months coming up, things like beanies, scarves and wrist warmers would be great. Check out our ever-growing pattern database for inspiration.

I am honored and touched to feel the warmth of your kindness!

26 Ninjas Strong!

Army of Purple Ninjas, ready for Camp Brainstorm!

It looks like we could get enough Purple Ninjas donated for the Camp Brainstorm Plushie Drive, that I may be able to save all of the other (animals, dolls, etc) goodies coming in for individual and facility requests. That would be awesome!

So far we have 26 sewn, knitted and crocheted ninjas which means, we only need 14 more for all of the campers to receive one! Please continue making them! You can download the patterns here .

The deadline for epilepsy camp donations is JULY 20th. Mail them to:

9901 Brodie Ln., Ste. 160 # 268
Austin, TX 78748

If you’re in Austin, you can also drop them off at Knitting Nest and I’ll pick them up from there.

Thanks, again!

xx,
Vickie

Plushie Drive to Benefit Camp Brainstorm!

Alright, I know I just launched Purple Stitch Project a couple of days ago, but I’m already coming to you guys with a need. Next month in Bastrop (you know, where the HUGE fires wiped out 4,000 homes last year) there’s going to be this great camp hosted by The Epilepsy Foundation of Central & South Texas in partnership with Texas Parks & Wildlife. Camp Brainstorm is a 5-day experience for kids, ages 8-18 who have seizure disorders. It’ll be a wonderful experience for the 40+ kids they’re expecting — one that I’d like to make even better by supplying each kiddo with their very own handmade plushie, courtesy of Purple Stitch Project. To make this happen though, I need your help! I’m asking that you knit, crochet or sew 1 (or more) plushie to donate for the cause.  Who’s with me? Perhaps the PSP mascots, the Purple Ninjas will convince you?

Here’s the scoop:
WHAT : Any plushie (animal, doll, robot, etc.) made or embellished with PURPLE yarn or fabric. See the photo links within this post for pattern suggestions, see more ideas in our Craftsy pattern archive , or work from your favorite pattern. Just keep in mind that the kids at this camp aren’t little-bitty, so let’s try and stay away from anything that seems too babyish.
WHEN: Finished plushies are due to me by July 20th.

WHERE: Send items to:
Purple Stitch Project
9901 Brodie Ln.
Ste 160 #268
Austin, TX 78748

WHY: Because handmade = love.

More project donation ideas!
Special thanks to: Arny Hekla , Allison Hoffman , Stacy Trock , Hillary Lang , Betz White , and Noelle Corcoran for donating the above patterns.
I dig comments, so let me know if you’re up to the challenge!
Please visit the Purple Stitch Project for more information on the initiative.

Thank you SO much in advance.
